Dantrolene is a non-centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant. It is used to treat muscle tightness and cramping caused by certain nerve disorders and spinal cord injuries. It has been used extensively for the treatment of myopathies and is of clinical benefit in the control of exercise-induced rhabdomyolysis in racehorses.
